Thirty before Thirty

As Jason's 10 year high school class reunion quickly approaches, I have begun to reflect on the past and plan for the future.  A few things have really hit me about the past decade.

  • I have realized that I am so much closer to 30 than I am to college (ouch - that one hurts)
  • The 10 year anniversary of September 11 will be this fall... I remember watching the news in my senior calculus class.
  • I graduated from Baylor over 6 years ago, thus it is no longer appropriate to wear sorority shirts in public.
  • Baylor 2012 (Baylor's 10 year initiative) will come to a close next year, which began right before I started Baylor.
  • Sweet Brinkley has been in our lives and we have been in our beautiful home in Tyler for 4 years.
  • Jason and I have been together over 8 years and married 4 1/2 of them.
  • I lost my last two grandparents within 7 months of each other over 6 years ago.
  • I remember life (specifically high school and college life) without text messaging, YouTube, iPhones, digital photography, DVR, blogs, etc.

With my third decade of life coming to a close, I have been inspired by a friend from college to create a 30 Before 30 list... Thirty things to accomplish before turning Thirty.

Here's my list:
  1. Run a 10K
  2. Take tennis lessons
  3. Get to my wedding weight
  4. Try new recipes and blog about it
  5. Have a date night with Jason once a month
  6. Take random weekend getaways
  7. Read
  8. Keep the house presentable at all times
  9. Have friends over regularly
  10. Join a Bible study
  11. Keep a prayer journal
  12. Enjoy regular “me” time to get away and rejuvenate
  13. Keep a photographic record of our family’s life and have it published
  14. Take a wine tasting class
  15. Becoming financially literate and involved in family finances
  16. Volunteer regularly in a local organization
  17. Send cards to celebrate the birthdays and anniversaries of friends and family
  18. Mark 3 items of my travel bucket list
  19. Go to a water park
  20. Repurpose the upstairs room in our house
  21. Have another baby
  22. Find play date friends for me and Wade
  23. Craft
  24. Clean out and have a garage sale of unused things in the house
  25. Find small ways to save and earn money
  26. Garden
  27. Update photos around our house
  28. Use our china and crystal for a holiday or celebratory meal
  29. Keep storage spaces (closets, drawers, cabinets) organized and user friendly
  30. Keep a record of this list

Some are big things; some are small things.  But I want to accomplish all of these things!  The list is not all encompassing and may be subject to change.  Keep you posted on how things go!
