Summertime in the Hill County (June 10-14)

Jason and I love to travel.  Period.  (I could end the blog entry here.)

Having Wade is wonderful, but traveling with him is difficult a joy.  In order for us to get it together and successfully travel with Wade, my parents came along with us for a long weekend in the Hill Country.

We left Friday evening and stayed the night with Jason's parents.  We enjoyed an evening full of family!

Wade and Avery played on the floor together.  (Wade working on his sitting skills)

Saturday morning, we drove to Austin to visit the Capitol and eat at a food truck on Congress Avenue!  We enjoyed lunch at the Mighty Cone (highly recommended!) after our self-guided tour of the Capitol.  If you haven't been since you were a kid (like Jason and I), you need to go again.  For a state Capitol building, Texas's is IMPRESSIVE and GORGEOUS inside and out!

After our time in Austin, we continued on towards downtown San Antonio.  We stayed at the Omni La Mansion del Rio, and after a brief stop at the Alamo, we went to Boudro's on the Riverwalk for Prickly Pear Margaritas and guacamole.  DELISH!

Sunday, my dad had many surprises in store for my mom as a belated birthday gift!   We ate breakfast at The Guenther House.  Another delicious meal!  The Guenther House is the old historic home of the family that founded Pioneer.

We headed north to Wimberley, Texas to Wimberley Zipline Adventures.  We went in two different shifts (someone had to watch Wade).  We had an AMAZING time!  So much fun!

We spent the afternoon shopping at the outlet malls and ate dinner at the Gristmill... another Hill Country classic!

After a long, hot day, we made it to the Hyatt Hill Country Resort.  Sticky Wade needed a bath.  So where do you bathe a baby in a hotel room that only has a handicapped shower in it?  The sink of course!

Monday, we spent an amazing day at the resort.  If you have never been, you MUST go!  It was beautiful and very family friendly.  The lazy river, miniature beach, golf course, 3 pools, great eating... it was all FABULOUS!

The evening ended with s'mores and a movie on the lawn.  We have decided that this is definitely a new family tradition.  We will be going back for many years to come!
