The Reinhardt Home: The one where I gave in...

So we have a big yard. A really big yard... well, big for a lot inside the city limits. And Spring has sprung, which in turn leads to late evening mowing, edging, and blowing.

Last week, Jason was working in the yard past Wade's bedtime. UNACCEPTABLE! My sweet, hard-working, dedicated husband did not spend any time with Wade that day. "How sad!" I thought.

My hard heart began to soften. I have told Jason for the past 4 years that we didn't need to spend the money on a riding lawn mower. We were just fine with our little Toro self-propelled regular mower. It was doing the job. But the job was taking up too much valuable time.

Jason and I began discussing riding lawn mower options. He and my dad read all the reviews in Consumer Reports, researched online, and went to all the big stores to check things out. (You see my dad has always wanted a riding lawn mower for himself as well. I have decided that it's a guy thing that I don't really understand.)

I did some research of my own. I came to find out that riding lawn mowers are now called "Lawn Tractors." Lawn tractor... really? Really did we need a "lawn tractor"? No, we really didn't NEED a lawn tractor, but man it would be nice to have, I began to think. I guess they call them lawn tractors so that even an Average ~~Joe~~ Jason could fulfill his fantasy of having his own farm/ ranch and a big John Deere.

So on Saturday, Jason ordered his lawn tractor online, rented a trailer, and picked up his Craftsman 42" 24 hp V-Twin Briggs & Stratton Turn Tight Hydrostatic Yard Tractor. (Yes, this is reminding me of the narrator on A Christmas Story describing the Red Rider BB Gun his little heart desired for Christmas. So go back and re-read that sentence about Jason's lawn tractor with the narrator's voice in your head.)

Today was the big day! Jason pushed aside his trusty little Toro self-propelled mower and brought forth the Craftsman 42" 24 hp V-Twin Briggs & Stratton Turn Tight Hydrostatic Yard Tractor. It was like Christmas morning after receiving your very first bicycle from Santa! He revved up the engine, shifted it into gear, and off he went. He drove that lawn tractor with all of his might. Jason was glowing from ear to ear!
